From a small, brave group of parents in 1949, who saw a need to band together for their children, The Arc of the Capital Area has evolved into an agency that provides a continuum of services for all people with developmental disabilities and their families. In 2009, we offered respite care and parent support, guardianship services, special education support, case management, juvenile justice services and an exciting new art studio & gallery.
We are honored when families and people with disabilities continue to come to us for information and support. A mother said, "I just don't know what I would have done without The Arc. You reached out and took my hand when I felt so alone and afraid." This mom and many more families like her are why we exist.
I hope you will take a moment to look at the 2008 annual report, which reflects the growth, maturity and success of The Arc of the Capital Area. Thank you for your faithful support, and thank you to our wonderful clients, who remind us all that we are truly lucky to do this work everyday.
