Programs & Services

 Intake & Referral Services 512.476.7044 ex (205) - is the centralized telephone intake for all of the Arc of the Capital Area services and programs. You will be prompted to leave a message and an Intake Specialist will return your phone call by the end of business day. Normal working hours are from 8:30 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. We conduct a brief screening with callers to determine if s/he might be eligible for services, and if so, which our services would best meet the consumer's needs. The Intake Specialist will refer callers to other disability organizations and resources in the community when appropriate.

 


The Arc of the Capital Area's programs and services include:   (Click on title for details)

 

Academic Coaching provides trained educational assistance to children with developmental disabilities.

 

The Art Project matches adults with disabilities with professional artists in the community. 

 

Basic Needs & Crisis Assistance Services provide individuals with developmental disabilities and their families with access to holiday assistance, medical/adaptive equipment and supplies, and crisis assistance to help with housing, utilities, medical payments, transportation, and childcare costs.

 

Case Management Services coordinate a range of community integration services and supports to help adults with developmental disabilities, many of whom live alone, to achieve and maintain personal independence.

 

Educational Meetings and Support Groups provide parents of children with developmental disabilities with the necessary tools and information to improve their parenting skills.

 

Family & Caregiver Support Services include low or no-cost parent mentoring, Special Education advocacy, specialized respite care, support groups, educational workshops, and guardianship services for parents and caregivers of children with developmental disabilities.

 

Guardianship Services help under-resourced families to establish guardianship of children with developmental disabilities who have recently reached or will soon reach adulthood (age 18).

 

Parent Mentoring provides volunteer-assisted one-on-one peer support, mentoring and advocacy for parents of children with disabilities.

 

Juvenile Justice Services provide educational advocacy and support to help youth with developmental disabilities (ages 11-17) and Special Education needs to complete school, stay out of the justice system and become contributing members of the community.

 

Respite Care Program provides parents of children with disabilities (ages 3-21) time away from their care-giving responsibilities, while their children participate in free social and recreational activities.
