Who's Behind Arc?
Susan Eason - Executive Director
Ms. Eason has been the Executive Director of The Arc since 1991 and is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Edward's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She is active in planning services for people with developmental disabilities and in various community organizations including: the Austin Area Human Services Association, Community Action Network, United Way Capital Area and The Basic Needs Coalition.
Ms. Eason is Past-Chair of the Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas and the CAN Developmental Disability Planning Body. In 2006, Ms. Eason received the Sheffield Award for Executive of the Year from the Austin Community Foundation. Susan brings her expertise as a parent of a daughter with disabilities and her 25 years of professional experience at The Arc of the Capital Area in various capacities.
Gerald Murphy - Director of Agency Services
Mr. Murphy is the parent of a daughter with developmental disabilities, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mr. Murphy is a City of Austin retiree with over 25 years of utility management experience, with emphasis in customer service related programs. Mr. Murphy is a past Independent Process Management Consultant, and has also served on the Austin Independent School District’s Special Education Citizen Advisory Committee. Mr. Murphy has been employed with The Arc of the Capital since August, 2005 and managed the Arc Family and Juvenile Services programs prior to his current role as Director of Agency Services.
Randi Knight - Director of Development and Marketing
Mrs. Knight has more than 11 years of successful marketing and channel development experience within the technology, telecommunications and manufacturing industries. A graduate of the College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Mrs. Knight was Senior Marketing Manager of Value Added Providers for Interland INC in Atlanta prior to joining The Arc of the Capital Area in 2006. She has also held executive-level marketing positions at Via.Networks, Cable & Wireless Telecommunications and Myshoppingcenter.com Inc. Randi's first job out of college was with The BARC in Bucks County Pennsylvania where she first discovered her passion for making art with people who have developmental disabilities. After leaving The BARC she continued to volunteer throughout the years with people with disabilities.
